Kitchen Colors (As I Call Them)

June 5, 2007 by sachinskg

Lately, my friend bought a house and asked me on how to recreate her kitchen. She seemed not to be happy with it. I was pretty glad that she had consulted me for help since it is something that I really would enjoy doing. In fact, I had already gone through renovating my own kitchen. I got straight to the point of telling her that she should look for a desirable kitchen colors.

Kitchen colors (as I would call them) are simply colors that would create an amazing outcome if applied to the kitchen. They are practically any color that can fade through time if not withstand the fading effect that cooking and smoke can do. The whole color world is your oyster. Yet, different people have different ideas for kitchen colors.

Some people I know would assert on having cream and beige tones in their kitchen. Others would suggest having the more earth-toned colors like browns and light beiges. Yet others would claim to have their kitchens in a spotless and pristine white with maybe black or chrome highlights. And others would still like to have illustrious lively colors adorning their kitchens.

Kitchen colors will vary on different persons. It will also vary depending upon the time and the situations where we live in. Example, would you think of having sixties wallpaper in your kitchen today?

This is the reason why advice my friend to first decide on a kitchen color. Finding a new set of accessories wasn’t the most enjoyable experience in redecorating the kitchen. It was in looking for the kitchen colors that would create an ambience of elegance.

Imagining my kitchen endowed with colors from bright white to vivid red to ocean blue amused me. Without further ado, it didn’t take much time since this is what I wanted. Working with it brought me into an enjoyable condition in time.

Unless you are planning to have annual painting of your kitchen, choose the colors that you would enjoy having for a number of years—a kitchen color that suits you.
